Cordner ready for Blues Origin audition

ROOSTERS back-rower Boyd Cordner has a point to prove against Manly at Brookvale Oval tonight as he attempts to win back his Blues jersey.

Cordner played in the decider last year, but missed the first two Origins this season after suffering an ankle injury in round 10.

With Sea Eagles back-rower Anthony Watmough suspended for this year's final game on July 9, Cordner is certain to once again come under consideration for a spot in the Blues' pack.

And there will be no better way to prove himself than with a strong showing in tonight's grand final rematch.

Cordner said he hoped to get "more than half a game" after being named on the interchange against Manly.

"I reckon I will be all right. I have trained really hard the last few weeks to maintain my fitness levels and try and be up there," he said.

"I haven't lost any fitness."

The 22-year-old added he would be ready to step up in the interstate arena once again if given the chance.

Meanwhile, Sea Eagles winger Peta Hiku admitted it had been hard moving on from last year's grand final loss to the Tricolours.

"It was upsetting losing that grand final, but we're going to have to forget about it and worry about this year," he said.

"Every game we played them last year we lost, so hopefully this year we return the favour."
