Corporate bowls on a roll

THE first Kingaroy Bowls Club corporate bowls night for the summer season was played on Tuesday, October 24.

A total of 17 teams took to the green for a game.

Among them was Gavin Pates who is playing for the third season and enjoys a fun night of bowls.

"It is just a great atmosphere,” Pates said.

"It is social and no one takes it seriously.

"It is just a bit of fun and self achievement for the guys that have never played before.

"It's great for everybody to get out and for something a little bit different.

"There is a lot of new teams this time but you know most of the people in the teams because you live local.”

Businesses throughout Kingaroy play in the competition which is held for six weeks each season, except for winter.

President of Kingaroy Bowls Club John Lacey said it is a social night out for people to have fun and play some bowls.

"These guys, they have never bowled before,” Lacey said.

"Over the last four seasons we have had five businesses that have come back each season and played.”
