Council helping rescue service to save lives
CAREFLIGHT Regional Base Manager Brent Chamberlain grinned from ear to ear when he saw the Subaru Outback vehicle in front of the South Burnett Council offices on Wednesday.
Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said South Burnett Regional Council donated the vehicle to CareFlight after hearing the organisation was short of vehicles.
"One of their vehicles was on its last legs and they're in the area saving lives often, so we thought we'd help them out," Cr Kratzmann said.
The Subaru wagon will allow CareFlight to retire two older vehicles.
Mr Chamberlain said he had spent the last year seeking funding for a new vehicle and it was perfect timing.
"I was in Bundaberg a few weeks ago and the old Ford Falcon broke down on the side of the road and we had to get it towed," he said.
Mr Chamberlain said the South Burnett was one of CareFlight's busiest areas with the organisation attending to a mission almost every second day.
