Council starts upgrades to improve town water supply
AS PART of their commitment to improve the long term sustainability of the local water system, South Burnett Regional Council will be conducting upgrades over the next two weeks.
From Tuesday, November 19 construction will commence along Youngman St between Alford St and Haly St, Kingaroy to replace the water main.
Council said they would notify affected residents if there was to be an interupption to the water supply
They advised the public to flush the plumbing by running inside and outside taps and to avoid using the washing machine or dishwasher if the water was discoloured during the maintenance works.
Discolouration of the water could be caused by the upgrades stirring up sediment in the water pipes.
During the upgrades, council said the cost for the water lost would be covered by their maintenance budget.
They also said that if water was lost, they would not recycle it due to public health reasons, yet it would ultimately return to the catchment environment via stormwater and drains.
Council said they apologised to the community for any inconvenience that this work caused over the next two weeks.
The upgrades were part of the Kingaroy Water Main Replacement Program announced on July 30.
Roman Contractors were contracted to complete the upgrades to the water mains at Kingaroy.
