LATEST: A WOMAN trapped in a car with two children after crashing down a steep embankment has been freed.

Emergency services cut away the drivers-side door to extricate the woman who was stretchered back to the road with measures in place to protect her back and neck. 

The woman suffered a head injury and back pain.

Both children were able to walk free from the car, and one child was treated for a sore knee.

The car the three were travelling in left Tunnel Ridge Rd, Landsborough about 7.30am and came to rest 20 metres down a steep embankment. 

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews worked for some time to extricate the three from the vehicle. 

Traffic was backed up for some time but emergency services have left the scene.

The car is being towed.

INITIAL REPORT: EMERGENCY services are working to free a woman and two children from a car that crashed down a steep embankment at Landsborough.

A spokesman for Queensland Ambulance Service said paramedics were on the scene but it extricating the women and children was expected to take some time. 

It is not yet known if the occupants of the vehicle are injured.
