Credlin slams book's claims on affair with Abbott

THE former chief of staff to then prime minister Tony Abbott, Peta Credlin, has denied suggestions of the pair having an affair, in the wake of a book that raises such rumours.

Ms Credlin hit out at the rumours, which have swirled around parliament for years, in an article in The Australian yesterday.

She told the newspaper the rumours were "about as low as it gets" and the idea their relationship was any-thing other than professional was "completely false".

Ms Credlin also criticised the paper's senior writer, Nikka Savva, for not approaching her or Mr Abbott before writing the book, Road to Ruin: How Tony Abbott and Peta Credlin Destroyed Their Own Government.

She said the book was nothing more than "an attempt to justify (Malcolm Turnbull's) coup".

"This is only one side of the story and in time the other side should be told," she said.
