Crews return to Cherbourg house fire after it re-ignites

FIREFIGHTERS are being praised after putting out a house blaze in Cherbourg not once, but twice.

A Queensland Fire Service spokesman said fire crews were called to an Oak Avenue house fire in Cherbourg on Monday, June 17 at approximately 5.10pm.

It took over 30 minutes to contain the blaze in the low set house, which was well alight by the time crews arrived.

Crews stayed on the scene until approximately 7.05pm before deeming the area safe and leaving.

At approximately 9.10pm the same evening, the house of the family of four reignited and fire crews were called back.

A mattress had flared up and one fire crew had contained the second blaze within ten minutes.

The family of four were all safe and accounted for.

Police media confirmed the fire was not suspicious.
