MURGON has become a breeding ground for up-and-coming cricket talent in the South Burnett.

This season, all seven junior players from the region chosen to represent Wide Bay cricket at the Queensland titles were playing for the Murgon and District Cricket Club.

As with all sports, volunteers are the backbone of the club's success.

Leanne Sippel has been recognised by Queensland Cricket as the Wide Bay Region Volunteer of the Month for December 2018.

She is an integral part of the club as an administrator and co-ordinator of the junior and master blaster programs, and runs the club's social media accounts and applies for grants.

"Her passion for trying to grow the game is something you wish you could bottle, as every club would love to have someone like Leanne who strives to make every experience that young cricketers have an enjoyable one,” Queensland Cricket Community and Pathways said on Facebook.
