Cricket semi-finals cancelled after heavy rainfall

THE weekend's wet weather would have played havoc for many people's plans, but it signalled the end for two  sporting teams' seasons.

The recent rain forced the cancellation of the South Burnett Cricket Association's A-grade semi-finals, with the Kingaroy Warriors and Nanango Scorpions bowing out of premiership contention.

Kingaroy RSL and the Murgon Crusaders will now play off in this season's grand final on Saturday.

South Burnett Cricket Association secretary Paul Clegg said pitches were not playable for the scheduled semi-finals.

"We just have not been able to get on the ground to prepare the pitch because of the rain," Mr Clegg said.
