Crocodile handler hailed a hero after saving Renee
CROCODILE handler Rick Lingard came to the rescue of his colleague after a 2.5m croc grabbed her arm earlier this week.
Renee Robertson, originally from Rockhampton, was aiding Rick during a feeding show at Townsville's Billabong Sanctuary when it took a turn for the worse.
Rick told media he remembered his training when it came to the rescue.
"The techniques I used to pacify (the croc) are recognised in the industry as appropriate to get a crocodile to release and move away from the area," he said.
Meanwhile, Renee is still recovering in Townsville Hospital and is in a stable condition.
It's been reported she underwent two surgeries, but has not sustained any permanent nerve damage to her arm.
