THOMAS Logan's response to a police officer who apologised for shooting his dad dead showed a level of acceptance nearly immediately after the incident.
He and partner Teegan Gordon were questioned during yesterday's Coroner's inquest into the shooting of Edward Wayne Logan.
Thomas said his father had shown during his visit he was worried about a potential prison sentence for an assault in his home state of Victoria.
"He just didn't want to go to jail."
Thomas said an officer approached him after he came out from a neighbour's house to see his father mortally wounded in front of their Tewantin home.
"He said 'sorry I had to shoot your dad'.
"I said 'yeah, no, that's all right, do what you had to do'.
He said his father should have been taking bi-polar medication, but wasn't.
"The man had his demons but he wasn't that bad."
