Daniel Morcombe liar admits his guilt

THE man labelled a pathological liar for his fake confession during the Daniel Morcombe inquest has pleaded guilty to perjury.

Edward Kneebone told Brisbane Coroners Court in 2010 he and his adoptive father abducted, abused and killed the 13-year-old in 2003.

He sat in the witness box and alleged his adoptive father, who saved him from the streets in Victoria at age 14 or 15, assaulted Daniel in a wooden shed in the Greenbank army reserve.

Kneebone also told the inquest they dumped his body in the Brisbane River after weighing his body down.

State coroner Michael Barnes warned Kneebone at the time that he could be charged with perjury if police could prove his version under oath was false.

The inquest heard Kneebone might have made up the story about Daniel as revenge against his father or he might be motivated by reward money.

Kneebone accepted portions of his evidence were not true, entering a guilty plea to the perjury charge in Brisbane.

He was committed to sentencing in Brisbane District Court next year.
