Darling Downs police nab prolific speedsters

DARLING Downs police have been left frustrated at the rate of speeding drivers detected through a small country town at the weekend.

Police nabbed six drivers travelling more than 20kmh over the speed limit in just two hours in Allora on Saturday, prompting a stern warning that motorists that ignore speed limits will be fined.

Allora police Senior Constable Matt Shield said the stretch of the New England Hwy that ran through the town was a signed 80kmh zone - a fact which was seemingly ignored by a number of drivers.

He said six drivers were caught doing in excess of 20kmh over the limit in two hours on Saturday.

Snr Const. Shield said police would be patrolling the area and would be enforcing the speed limits.
