Alleged gunman demanded being driven to town
A WALLIGAN teenager accused of using a gun to demand he be driven to Chinchilla on Tuesday night has been denied bail in Murgon Magistrates Court and remanded in custody.
Leevi Deverall-Bowden, 19, appeared in Murgon Magistrates Court on Wednesday afternoon charged with two counts of deprivation of liberty and a further two counts of dangerous conduct with a weapon.
An application for bail was made but this request was refused and the matter adjourned until April 26.
Deverall-Bowden will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on this date via video link.
POLICE have charged a man following an incident that occurred at Glenwood on Tuesday night.
It will be alleged that around 11.45pm police pulled over a vehicle on Haly street, Wondai for a speeding offence.
While police were speaking to the driver, a 19-year-old man who was a rear seat passenger has asked to use a nearby public toilet before fleeing.
Police will further allege the driver, a 17-year-old man, and 15 year-old girl who was a front seat passenger, advised them the 19-year-old man had a handgun and they were fearful for their lives.
The pair told police they were at Glenwood when the man produced the handgun and demanded they drive him to Chinchilla.
Further inquiries by police indicates a third passenger also feared for his life and asked to be dropped off near Gympie before contacting 000.
Around 1am police patrolling nearby located the man in Mackenzie Street, Wondai and he was taken into custody.
A 19-year-old Walligan man has been charged with two counts of deprivation of liberty and two counts of dangerous conduct with a weapon.
He will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on Wednesday afternoon.
