Downs' sport stalwart applauds Hall of Fame inductions

PAUL Reedy is all about the future of rugby league on the Darling Downs but he is just as passionate about celebrating its past.

The Western Mustangs chairman was one of the first in line to throw his support behind honouring former Toowoomba rugby league great Tom Gorman.

Gorman, along with sprinter Arthur Postle, Hockeyroo Nikki Hudson and fellow rugby league identity John McDonald, will be inducted this month into the Toowoomba Regional Sports Hall of Fame.

They will become the hall's first members at a public dinner and presentation evening next Friday at Toowoomba's Cobb and Co Museum.

Reedy welcomed what he believes is overdue recognition of Toowoomba's sport pioneers.

"This is something Toowoomba has been screaming out for and it's great to see it finally coming to fruition,” Reedy said.

"If we don't start recognising people like Tom Gorman now they will disappear forever.”

# TICKETS for the November 24 evening are available to members of the public online at toowoombatickets.com.au or with cash at Cobb and Co Museum.

All funds raised go to the Toowoomba Regional Sports Hall of Fame.
