Dreams do come true in the South Burnett

AFTER three years of studying in the big smoke - or was it pollution? - I'm back, ready for action.

Originally, becoming a journalist was a hidden dream of mine. In fact, during my high school years, I wasn't entirely sure of what I wanted to do with my life, career-wise.

I knew I loved talking to people, hearing exciting stories and learning about new cultures... but it wasn't until I realised my love for words, that I started looking at where I can study journalism.

Being raised a Kingaroy local, I can't describe how excited I am to start my career as a journalist for the South Burnett Times.

Introducing myself as the Times' Digital Feature Writer, I cannot wait to hear about what our local community is up to, and finding new people to write stories about.

Most importantly, as a traveller who missed my family and friends, as well as all of my pets that couldn't fit into dorm rooms, I'm excited to finally be back home.

It would be an understatement to say I simply missed the South Burnett area, too.

Not only do we have a wealth of community members who care, but we also have fresh air, beautiful rainforests nearby, and you can actually see the stars.

When I'm not writing feature articles, you can bet that I'll be binging Netflix, making my brother listen to obscure, indie music playlists, and experimenting with a range of gyoza recipes.

Who knows, now that I'm back, I might also take up some local weekly pottery classes.

I'm eager to get into the swing of things here at the South Burnett Times, so don't be afraid to come down and tell me your stories.

I hereby thank you in advance for reading my own.
