Elderly man injured in burglary

A 45-YEAR-OLD man will appear in court on December 7 after being charged with burglary and assault.

Police were called to an alleged burglary at a 70-year-old man's Kingaroy house on November 23.

Kingaroy Police officer in charge Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said police found the man injured when they arrived.

In their investigations, Snr Sgt Frank said police later found a 45-year-old man at a licensed premises in Kingaroy.

The man was allegedly found in possession of stolen money and was charged with burglary and serious assault.

Snr Sgt Frank said the two men were known to each other before the alleged assault, and an argument between the two may have lead to the offense.

"The offender has allegedly become upset with the elderly man and unlawfully entered his premises," he said.

While inside the house, he allegedly took a container of money belonging to the 70-year-old.

The man allegedly ran off and left his victim with a leg injury and abrasions.
