Emergency services hone skills with exploding houseboat

EMERGENCY services have put their skills to the test during a major training exercise on the Noosa River at Noosaville.

The exercise involved a simulated house boat fire and explosion on the river.

In an operation described by thr Fire and Emergency Services Department as "timely training ahead of the busy Christmas period", crews practiced dealing with the multiple casualties that might be caused by such an incident.

'Operation Sandfly 2015' involved representatives of the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, Queensland Police Service, Queensland Ambulance Service, Maritime Safety Queensland, Surf Life Saving Queensland, Australian Volunteer Coast Guard and Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
