STATE Emergency Service volunteers have joined the search for the remains of murdered retired businessman George Gerbic.

Seven news reports detectives bought in earthmoving equipment at the Tanawha property yesterday. The land has been considered a crime scene for seven days.

Mr Gerbic's headless torso was found on Cedar Pocket Rd, on September 19 last year.

Lindy Yvonne Williams, 56, faced the Maroochydore Magistrates Court last Friday charged with murdering the 66-year-old and interfering with his corpse.

In the statement earlier this week Gerbic's son Simon paid tribute to the role his father had played in their lives.

"He was a strong and passionate man with a big personality," he said.

"He was passionate about so many things, like music, cars, gardening, movies, sport and family.

"He supported us in huge ways in our 30 years of football, our entrepreneurial business ventures and even music tastes with his usual fatherly opinion. He will never be forgotten.

"He was a smart, driven, business-minded man we always turned to for advice."

Ms Williams, a mother-of-two, was remanded in custody until a committal mention, set down for September 1.
