Enjoy a country show for less than $20, including a showbag

TAKING the the kids to the show can be a great way to enjoy a family day out, but it isn't always so pleasant on the bank balance.

After a hugely successful Wondai Show on Saturday, we have compiled some suggestions so that you can enjoy next year's show for under $20, and you'll even walk out with a show bag.

Obviously, the first thing you have to do is get into the show.

This is where your main expense is going to be.

An adult ticket is going to set you back $10, and in the overall scheme of Queensland shows, this is exceptional value for money.

While you'll be half way to your total expenses after just walking through the gates, have no fear.

The majority of activities for you and the kids aren't going to require you dipping into the handbag.

As the Wondai Show president, Dennis Morris proudly told us, it is only thanks to the very generous donations from various local businesses that they are able to keep their events at minimal or no cost.

"A huge thank you to our sponsors, they let us put on a tremendous number of free things so people didn't have to empty their wallets in a tough time," he said.

Because of these kind-hearted South Burnett organisations, you and the kids can enjoy some show-stopping fun and excitement at no charge.

So why not take full advantage?

Start off slowly, with a look at some of the state's most impressive rigs at the Truck Show.

And of course, it wouldn't be a day at the show without a cuddle with some of the cute farm animals.

Once you feel like you are well and truly in the show spirit, then turn up the action and get involved in some slightly more thrill-seeking activities.

Such as the lawn mower racing or laser tag.

But, the one event that can not be missed is the evening bull rides and barrel races, just don't get bucked off like this cowboy.

Oh, and don't forget to pick up your show bag before your leave.

From only $8, you are bound to find something that takes your fancy.

Just make sure you hide it from the kids.

There are many ways to enjoy the Wondai Show, and while we want to support our local shows as generously as we can, at least you know you can get along and be a part of the fun and festivities for less than the price of lunch in a big city.

See you at next year's Wondai Show.
