Ex-Bandido's member charged with assault, weapons charges

A FORMER Bandido outlaw motorcycle gang member has been charged following an assault at Palmwoods yesterday.

Police say the man threatened a 38-year-old woman with a firearm and allegedly assaulted her at a Parkwood Place residence in Palmwoods. 

Police executed a search warrant at the residence and located two stolen rifles, assorted ammunition and a large quantity of fireworks.

Investigations revealed that the firearms were stolen from a break and enter of a house in Cootharaba in August 2014.

A 48-year-old Woombye man has been charged with two counts of possess unregistered firearms and possess explosives and one count each of common assault, dangerous conduct with a weapon and receiving stolen property.

He is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on July 9.
