Family support for Wondai house fire victims
EXTENDED family of the victims of a house fire in Wondai last week have gathered to support them.
Jordan Gilbert, nephew of the family whose home was destroyed on March 8, and his partner, Vanessa Gustafson, have been collecting donations from the community.
"We've just been trying to get donations for clothes and other things that they need as they had nothing after the fire,” Mr Gilbert said.
"We have asked people around the area online and in person.
"Some people have given furniture for them and stuff like that.
"I have to go and pick up a couch and table soon.
"We're just trying to help them out as that is what family does - we help each other in tough times.”

Mr Gilbert said he had been blown away from the support his family had received.
"Their support was unbelievable,” he said.
"To see how everyone has supported my family and were there for them, it meant a lot.”
Mr Gilbert said his aunty and two cousins managed to escape the fire.
"Everyone got out just in time,” he said.
Mr Gilbert said his family members were "pretty shaken up” since the fire.
"They're trying to get their minds around what happened and what to do next.
"They are just a mess at the moment.”
