Father and son duo net back-to-back wins
THERE is no doubt father and son duo Jason and Dustin Pedler are a winning combination on the water after recording their second consecutive overall victory at the Australian Trolling Championships across October 20 and 21 at Somerset Dam.
However, it wasn't all smooth sailing for the team who finished the first session with just three fish.
A change in tactic proved to pay off with them finishing the second session with 25 eligible fish.
"We tried different areas and we stumbled upon them and went backwards and forwards," Jason said.
For Jason, the best part about the tournament is its family-friendly atmosphere.
"He would be saying he is teaching me, I was learning off him all weekend I have just got to grin and bear it," he said.
"A lot more people should try and get involved. It is a family atmosphere and everyone helps everyone else out."
Like every other winner at the championships, Dustin and Jason used Smak Lures.
Owner of Smak Lures and South Burnett local Matthew Mott said he couldn't be more proud to provide such great equipment to help fellow anglers achieve what they set out to.
"The difference is we are fisherman and if I wouldn't use it myself I wont make it," he said.
"We make them for the average joe and professionals to use and they are hand-painted at the back of the shop in Kingaroy."
