Festival fun for the little ones
THE Goomeri Pumpkin Festival is jam-packed with activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Even though the festival runs from May 23 to 27, the festival committee believe the Sunday is for the kids.
According to festival co-ordinator Kim Boyter, on Sunday, May 26, they are boasting a full kids amusement area.
This will include miniature pig races, an animal nursery, a reptile and lizard show, camel rides, as well as a jumping castle, merry-go-round and laser skirmish.
"We have a lot of repeat traders involved this year, so it was very helpful in terms of getting so much entertainment involved," she said.
"We also start organising our festival probably 4 weeks after, taking 9 to 10 months to get everything in place, and we're excited to see how people enjoy the day."
The Sunday is also mainly filled with many pumpkin-based competitions, including their famous pumpkin roll.
The Goomeri Pumpkin Festival is proud to have their sponsor Campbells Truck & Bobcat to secure naming rights to this pumpkin roll.
"It's some great fun on the day, and everyone can get involved with this competition," Ms Boyter said.
The Goomeri Pumpkin Festival will also feature a dash-for-cash competition with $200 up for grabs, however there is an age limit.
"We don't let younger kids get involved in this one because of the intense competitive behaviour. It's only open to people over 16, but it still is a lot of fun to watch," she said.
"Last year it was a success, and a young man in his early 20s took home the prize money."
If you're interested in four days full of fun, you won't want to miss this year's Goomeri Pumpkin Festival.
