Fight over 50 cents lands killer in jail for life

A FIGHT over 50 cents cost one man his life and seen another jailed for life.

On Friday Jamie Lloyd Murray was found guilty in the Brisbane Supreme Court of murdering Mark Hemmings at Caboolture's Bluebell Park.

Mr Hemmings, 49, was walking home on December 17, 2012 with his partner when Murray approached them demanding 50 cents so he could make a phone call.

Mr Hemmings refused and Murray attacked him with part of a bicycle seat. Mr Hemming's partner Joanna Mansfield gave Murray the money to diffuse the situation.

She called the police but Murray, 22, returned minutes later and attacked Mr Hemmings again - stabbing him in the heart.
Murray was sentenced to life in jail.
