Fire in Memerambi

Update, 2.04pm

A SPARK from machinery caused the grass fire in Memerambi.

Fire crews from Memerambi, Wooroolin, Stuart River and Wattle Camp had the fire under control with only two acres burnt.

Crews used water tanks with hoses and a front end loader to create a fire break.

Initial report, 11.53am

THERE are reports of a grass fire at Memerambi.

A rural fire unit from Stuart River is at the scene.

According to the rural fire service, the fire is on Recreation Dr and Bunya Hwy.

At this stage the fire has caused no threat to people or property.

Earlier today the Rural Fire Service Queensland issued a warning that weather conditions in the next few days would heighten the fire danger for the next few days.

More information will be available as it comes to hand.
