First look at South Burnett on the big screen

THIS time last year movie enthusiasts in the South Burnett were on the look-out to meet movie stars who were in the region for the filming of Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan.

Today the first teaser trailer for the film ahead of its release on August 8.

From the Director of Red Dog, Kriv Stenders, and the writer of Australia, Stuart Beattie, the film follows the journey of Major Harry Smith and his dispersed company of 108 young Australian and New Zealand soldiers fighting for their lives in the rain and mud of a Vietnamese rubber plantation called Long Tan on August 18 1966.

They are holding off an overwhelming enemy force of 2,500 battle-hardened Main Force Viet Cong and North Vietnamese soldiers.

With their ammunition running out, their casualties mounting and the enemy massing for a final assault, each man begins to search for the strength to triumph over an uncertain future with honour, decency and courage.

The film which was partially filmed in the South Burnett stars Travis Fimmel, Luke Bracey, Daniel Webber, Alexander England, Aaron Glenane, Nicholas Hamilton, Anthony Hayes and Richard Roxburgh.
