Five things to do in the South Burnett this weekend
1. WINTER WARMERS BEATING THE BLUES
THE South Burnett Suicide Prevention Working Group will host its free Winter Warmers Beating the Blues event on Friday.
There will be live music from Kingaroy artist Lloyd Back and performances from two South Burnett dance groups in the Kingaroy Town Hall forecourt from 4pm.
Group member Kirsty Cauley said multiple community groups were getting involved and there would be craft activities focused on gratefulness, as well as face-painting and fairy floss on offer.
There will also be a sausage sizzle and a 'glam chair' providing mini make-overs.
From 5.30pm, all of the fun will move inside for a free family movie.
There will also be free scarves and beanies on offer which have been knitted by community members.
2. BLACKBUTT SHOW
BLACKBUTT'S 85th annual show is on this weekend and will continue a long tradition of celebrating the region's rich agricultural industry.
The whole family will be treated to a wide variety of rides, a sideshow alley, and a pavilion packed full of everything from art, craft and culinary delights to patchwork, produce, preserves and photography.
3. CELEBRATE 100 YEARS OF OUR LADY OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH
Saturday and Sunday
KUMBIA residents have been busy preparing a weekend of celebrations for the 100-year anniversary of the Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
Many former members of the Kumbia catholic congregation are returning for the event this Saturday and Sunday.
Celebrations will begin at a community dinner on Saturday night, featuring a bar and a fire pit. There will then will be a service and picnic lunch on the Sunday.
4. THE SOUTH BURNETT COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA CONCERT
THE South Burnett Community Orchestra will be putting on a free community Just for the Music concert on Sunday.
Audience members will be treated to the music themes from Harry Potter, How to Train your Dragon, and Man of Steel during the concert in the Kingaroy Town Hall from 2pm.
The orchestra will also combine with the South Burnett Chorale to perform the Star Trek Into Darkness theme.
The community concert will offer a preview of the orchestra's 2019 Heroes, Villains and Freddie Mercury repertoire and main concert which will be held on September 14.
5. RATION SHED RECONCILIATION FUN RUN
THE Ration Shed Reconciliation Fun Run is on this Sunday morning.
You can get involved in either the 3km or 7km fun run or walk.
There will be prizes and medals for winners and place-getters and plenty of random draw prizes.
Join in the celebrations at the post-race festival, where there will be entertainment, market stalls and food outlets.
The road from Cherbourg to Murgon will be closed from 8-10am for the race.
Free shuttle buses will be operating between Cherbourg to Murgon from 11am-1pm every 30 minutes.
