OPINION: Focus needed on customers

THE March quarter featured a 1.2% fall in consumer confidence. This is because concern persists about the economic outlook and job security leading into and beyond the next budget.

The Reserve Bank of Australia can cut rates, which may stimulate property investment, but it won't boost consumer spending for small business.

During these benign times, business must focus on making sales.

The challenge is to convince customers that your business is not just there for money, and to develop authentic relationships.

If the current lacklustre economy persists into 2016, which it will, business overheads will creep steadily upward.

Now is a good time to schedule strategy planning to review the business model, value proposition and service delivery levels to wow customers into a long-term relationship.
