Former Rabbitohs captain Craig Fields facing murder trial

UPDATE 11.55am: The jury has been empaneled in the Supreme Court murder tried of former NRL star Craig Field.

Field, 41, stands accused of killing Cudgera Creek cattle farmer Kelvin Kane during a fight outside the Kingscliff Beach hotel on July 15, 2012.

Five women and seven men were selected to be part of the 12 person jury.

The trial in the Lismore Supreme Court is expected to last three weeks.

ORIGINAL REPORT: FORMER South Sydney Rabbitohs captain Craig Field arrived at Lismore's Supreme Court this morning to face murder charges.

He is charged over the death of Tweed cattle farmer Kelvin Kane outside a hotel in Kingscliff in July 2012.

Police allege Mr Kane died as the result of a king hit during an argument with Mr Field.

The case is expected to run for several weeks.
