Free support services for families coming to South Burnett
FAMILIES will be able to access support services with greater ease when the new BUSHkids centre opens its doors in Kingaroy.
BUSHkids CEO Carlton Meyn said Monday's opening would be the perfect opportunity for South Burnett families to find out more about the free support on offer.
"It's great to have a permanent base in Kingaroy,” Mr Meyn said.
"Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the Kingaroy centre, meet the staff and learn more about the free services we offer across the South Burnett region.”
The not-for-profit organisation has been supporting kids and families in the area in partnership with the Federal Government's Department of Social Service since 2015.
The organisation has also had a family health support worker based in the town.
BUSHkids is now able to increase the support it provides to communities across the South Burnett through its partnership with the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
The organisation has already been running an eKindy program from Proston State School.
"However, children needing our therapy services have had to travel to Dalby for more specialist support,” Mr Meyn said.
"Having a service centre in the town will allow us to increase the range of free support we can provide to families in the area.”
BUSHkids is already the NDIS partner in the community for Early Childhood Early Intervention Services, a program fully funded as part of the NDIS.
"We started providing early childhood services to the South Burnett in partnership with the NDIS in March, which helps children from birth to the age of six who have a disability or developmental delay,” Mr Meyn said.
The specialised services help the children achieve better long-term outcomes.
"Our new service centre will make it easier for us to work with children and families needing more intensive supports with private space for therapy and family meetings,” Mr Meyn said.
As part of the opening celebrations, there will be tours and loads of free activities for the children to enjoy.
"We'd love the Kingaroy community to join us in celebrating the opening of the new centre,” Mr Meyn said.
The new BUSHkids service centre at 9A Toomey St, Kingaroy will be officially opened on Monday, September 30 between 12.20pm and 2pm.
