FSB finals series begins this weekend
Football South Burnett president Sarah Vanderkolk expects a highly contested opening FSB finals weekend, when Kingaroy hosts the knock-out semi finals tomorrow.
Gunners and Nanango will open the finals series with their second division clash at 2pm, followed by Gunnettes and Wests women, before Wests and Barambah renew their first division rivalry at 6pm.
"The quality of what we have seen on the park is improving every year,” Vanderkolk said.
"We're bringing in coaches that are more qualified, and our junior coaches are doing a phenomenal job with the young players.
"Any of the four teams in each division can win on their day. I'm expecting a great finals (series).”
Vanderkolk highlighted the Nanango women as the stand-out team this season, going through undefeated, but with other teams improving as the regular season came to a close, the Panthers will need to be at their best to hoist the trophy on grand final day.
In second division, Wests and Barambah have shared the spoils and look the most likely to go all the way this season, while Gunners and Nanango loom as the likely candidates to duke it out for the first division crown on September 9. But it is finals time, and anything can happen.
