STRETCHING the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival across four days for this first time is a bigger job than you might think.

More days mean more food, more permits, and more schedule fillers.

Festival co-ordinator Kim Boyter said although it was initially a nerve-racking decision, the committee is excitedly taking on the job to make this year bigger than ever.

"We weren't too confident, but our festival has reached its maximum capacity for that one day, so we wanted to encourage our visitors to stay longer, spend more, and keep them here," she said.

"There are different activities set up for the whole four days, so people can still return for more than one day without it getting repetitive."

Whether you go to more than one day or not, Ms Boyter said you should make sure to attend the Sunday, May 26.

"The Sunday has all the major festival attractions, including the full range of our pumpkin competitions, pumpkin bowls, shotput and dash for cash," she said.

As well as expanding to four days, the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival will also have its streets closed for the first time.

"We have never had highway closure for the whole day before, so it's very exciting to see how the locals will walk once everything opens up more, especially the pedestrian flow from the locals," she said.

As well as being the biggest event so far, there will be a range of food and market stalls, along with a range of activities for the whole family.

You won't want to miss this year's pumpkin festival, so be sure to attend from May 23 to 27.
