Woman paralysed by bike accident: Friends, family rally
A NEW fundraising effort has been launched for a Toowoomba woman left paralysed by a motorbike accident near Blackbutt last year.
Angie Adams launched the GoFundMe page for her friend Larissa Rosentreter this week.
"On November 11 Larissa had a terrible fall off a motorbike which saw her airlifted from the trail ride to the Princess Alexandra Hospital," Ms Adams wrote.
"She gained extensive injuries including shattered vertebrae on her lower spine which left her paralysed from the waist down, broken ribs, breaks all throughout the right side of her pelvis and a broken joint that connects her spine to her pelvis.
"The doctors say it's a miracle that Larissa has even gained movement back again."
Ms Adams said the process of rehabilitation for Larissa had been a long one.
"She has already been in hospital for longer than four months and it is putting financial stress on herself and her family," she said.
"Larissa cannot work and she has spent all of her savings on medical costs.
"Larissa is the most selfless and caring person I and a lot of other people have ever met and deserves all the help she can get.
"All myself and her friends and family are asking is even $1 to her Larissa's goal of walking out of hospital in a few months' time come true."
