Gas leak sees major shopping centre evacuated

UPDATE: A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson has advised that the two people being treated at the scene did not require hospitalisation.

Fire crews recently completing atmospheric testing and have conducted ventilation efforts.

Emergency crews have declared the area safe and have now left the scene.

EARLIER: A GAS LEAK in a major shopping centre has forced hundreds of people onto the streets while emergency services rush to contain the leak.

Emergency crews were called to Morayfield Shopping Centre after 12pm this afternoon.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman confirmed that the building had been evacuated after the gas leak.

Two fire trucks are currently on site, with another rushing to the scene.

Paramedics are currently treating two people, but a Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman was unable to confirm what injuries the patients are suffering.

Police are also on site.
