Gibson seeking legal advice

GYMPIE MP and former Police Minister David Gibson is seeking legal advice on the conduct of the State Penalties Enforcement Registry, which he says suspended his licence without informing him.

Mr Gibson tweeted today that he was looking for a lawyer.

"Thnx to all for kind words &advice. Lots of ppl saying I should get legal opinion on SPER.

"Any suggestions on a good #Qld law firm?" he asked in a Tweet at 8.45am today.

Premier Campbell Newman has now promised to review of how SPER delivers licence suspension notices, after Mr Gibson told media this week that he had never been notified that his licence was suspended or about to be.

Mr Gibson's removal from Cabinet office, about two weeks after his appointment, is not entirely a new experience for him.

Just over a year ago, Mr Gibson was celebrating his re-.inclusion in the then-Opposition's Shadow Cabinet, at the behest of its then-new leader Campbell Newman.

This followed his removal from the Shadow Cabinet by Mr Newman's Opposition predecessor, John-Paul Langbroek.

Now, as Premier, Mr Newman this week refused to rule out a return to the Ministry after a hiatus.

"Right now I encourage him to sit back and take a deep breath, get over this and then work for the people of the Gympie electorate," Mr Newman said.
