Gladstone paramedics take inspiration from Harry Potter

GLADSTONE paramedics have tested out a new way of getting to jobs quickly, inspired by Harry Potter, in a spot of pre-Christmas fun.

Paramedics Jacob Serena, Spencer Underwood, Josh Radloff and Tas Herbert appeared in a humorous picture on Facebook, flying in the air on broomsticks that are ordinarily used to clean the trucks.

It was all part of Underwood's plan to liven up the new station.

"The station is really new and we wanted to put some photos up. So I said let's do it," acting officer in charge Leia Spencer said.

"We are quite busy and we had a couple of minutes free, so we were playing around and I thought it would be nice to snap it."

It took around five practices to master the picture, but there was one injury.

"We were mistiming jumps. One guy stacked it on the broom and ended up hurting himself… in a sensitive area," Mr Serena said.

"He tripped himself up on the broom."

Mr Serena said the Gladstone team was tight-knit - and planning more funny pictures.

"It eases the stress sometimes. It makes us look human which is important."

Posting the photo on its Facebook page, Queensland Ambulance Service said any rumours that the service was testing a new type of ambulance were just that - rumours.

"Those broomsticks would be great in heavy traffic, but where would we put the patient?" QAS wrote.
