DISGRACED Glee Star Mark Salling reportedly "attempted suicide" weeks before he tried to reduce his prison sentence for possessing child porn images.

The 35-year-old tried to take his own life in the bedroom of his Los Angeles home on August 22, before he "freaked out" and screamed for his roommate, TMZ reported.

Salling was taken to hospital after his roommate discovered him bleeding and rushed to call 911.

The star was also taken for psychiatric evaluation days later and was admitted into a rehab facility for psychological issues.

In a message to the website, Salling's lawyer said: "Mark is physically fine and Mark is spending his time atoning and working on himself."

TMZ reports that Salling, who played bad boy Noah "Puck" Puckerman in the hit US show, faces four to seven years in prison under a plea deal, after pleading guilty to two counts of child pornography.

Cops found 50,000 "sexually charged" images of child porn and child erotica on his computer, including pictures containing a prepubescent child.

The US District Court in Los Angeles heard how he must pay out $50,000 to the child victims abused in the pictures and videos in his evil collection.
