Gold medal is no little achievement

LITTLE ATHLETICS: Bree Pogany from Nanango Little Athletics and Taylor Watt from South Burnett Little Athletics teamed up to win gold at the Little Athletics Queensland state relays on Saturday, December 2.

The duo have been competing in little athletics together for seven years.

Taylor said this gives them an advantage, especially when passing the baton in running events, a crucial moment that can make or break a race.

"I think it helps because when you are passing the baton we trust each other and you can judge if they slow down or speed up and if they are getting tired or if they are going too fast,” she said.

They were surprised with third in the four by 100 metres when they teamed up with Nanango's Sophie Grundy and Macey Roberts.

Nanango Little Athletics relay coach Evalyn Thompson said the centre are proud of all their athletes.

"The Under 13 boys four by 100 metres was the biggest surprise of the day because we didn't expect it.”
