Government extends total fire ban

THE fire ban enforced across most of Queensland has been extended to Sunday.

The total fire ban is now current until 10am Sunday, December 2 in the South Burnett, North Burnett and Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council areas.

The ban was originally implemented by the Queensland Government on Wednesday morning, coinciding with the Bureau of Meteorology announcement of a severe fire danger warning.

BOM has released very high fire dangers for the South and North Burnett, as the warm, dry, windy weather is forecast to continue into the weekend.

Gayndah is expected to reach 35° and Kingaroy is forecast to reach 33° today.
