Daft Punk and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis rule 2014 Grammys
MYSTERIOUS French electro duo Daft Punk are the toast of this year's Grammy Awards.
Today the helmet-wearing group took home four of the top awards, including Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, for their chart-topper Get Lucky.
Rap duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis was the other big winner of the night, taking home four awards including Best New Artist and Best Rap Album.
While Australian artists Tim Minchin, Keith Urban and Tame Impala all missed out on winning awards, it was the country's classical talent that brought our tally to four Grammys.
The Australian Chamber Orchestra's Winter Morning Walks was named Best Contemporary Classical Composition, Best Engineered Classical Album and Best Classical Vocal Solo (for Dawn Upshaw).
David Frost, who co-produced the Winter Morning Walks album, was also named Classical Producer of the Year.
While her song Royals might not have taken out the top spot in Triple J's Hottest 100 poll yesterday, Kiwi teen Lorde secured her first-ever Grammys for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
The awards featured a host of live performances including a rare on-stage reunion of surviving Beatles members Ringo Starr and Sir Paul McCartney, who played the original piano from the Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour, as well as Daft Punk performing their winning song Get Lucky with Producer of the Year Pharrell Williams and music legends Stevie Wonder and Nile Rodgers.
