Grassfire blows smoke across highway

RURAL fire fighters from Stuart River Station brought a 100m long grass fire burning beside the Bunya Hwy at Taabinga under control this afternoon.

The fire was reported just after 1pm and was extinguished before 1.30pm.

Three crews are at the scene mopping up the roadside and paddock.
