Greg Bird loses Titans co-captaincy after wee wedding mishap

THE Gold Coast Titans have fined representative forward Greg Bird $15,000 and stripped him of the club's co-captaincy after he was caught urinating in the street in Byron Bay just hours after his wedding last weekend.

Titans chief executive Graham Annesley announced the sanctions this morning following a disciplinary committee hearing into Bird's latest indiscretion.

He also said it was the 30-year-old's last chance and he would be sacked in the event of a further breach of the club's code of behaviour.

The news followed a training mishap on Thursday when Bird injured his right knee during contact work. He will need scans to determine the extent of the damage.

Team mate James Roberts had also been fined $3000 and put on notice after he was arrested in October and charged with public nuisance and obstructing police.

The charges against Roberts were dropped in court on Wednesday due to lack of evidence.
