KINGAROY Joinery Redbacks' cadets were far more venomous in their strikes than their counterparts The Lucky Charm Redbacks.

Right from the first whistle, stand-in coach Thomas Carroll ordered his team to make the most of their strength down the wings.

"We had to get the ball out wide early and use the wings," he said.

"(Because) we had pace to burn."

His wingers were able to cut passed the Lucky Charm Redbacks' defence to cross the ball into the danger area where strikers took aim at the vulnerable goal.

"We were playing to our strengths and making the most of our opportunities," Carroll said.

This play was brutal, sending the Lucky Charm Redbacks off the field at half-time 6-1 down.

Carroll then swapped his players around in the second-half to play in positions they rarely get to play in.

"We swapped the backs and fronts to expose them to different positions and get them used to being in front of goal but they took a while to find their feet" he said.

In this time, the Lucky Charm Redbacks managed to claw back a couple of goals against the Kingaroy Joinery Red Backs.

The Lucky Charm Redbacks' coach Hayden Mashford said while they scored a number of goals, they had more opportunities.

"We won the second-half," he said.

But the damage inflicted on them in the first was too much to recover from and the game ended with the final score of 8-4 to the Kingaroy Joinery Redbacks.
