English Premier League heavyweight Arsenal will join the cavalcade of star-studded teams to play in Australia.
The Gunners, whose roster includes internationals Mesut Ozil (pictured), Santi Carzola, Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez, will play matches against Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC at ANZ Stadium in July 2017.
Fellow EPL clubs Chelsea and Tottenham played in front of huge crowds in Sydney this year, while Manchester City, AS Roma and Real Madrid took part in the International Champions Cup in Melbourne.
Liverpool has also been to Australia twice in recent years, playing in Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, while Manchester United took on an A-League All-stars team in Sydney in 2013.
Arsenal is one of world football's oldest and most iconic clubs, having won 13 league titles and 12 FA Cups since being formed in 1886.
The first of those Cups came against Huddersfield Town in 1930, and the most recent was earlier this year against Aston Villa.
Wanderers chairman Paul Lederer said the opportunity to play Arsenal was an outstanding result for members and fans of the Western Sydney Wanderers.
"This is the opportunity we have been waiting for and we are very excited to be able to announce that Arsenal will be coming to Australia to play our side in a friendly," Lederer said.
"Arsenal are a huge team and we know that many of our fans are also major fans of the Arsenal Football Club."
