Greater Western Sydney lays Demons to rest

THEY won their only game in 2013 against Melbourne at home, and yesterday the Giants repeated the dose in miserable conditions at Spotless Stadium, beating the Demons by 47 points, 10.19 (79) to 7.5 (47).

It was a miserable return to Sydney for new Melbourne coach Paul Roos, with the Demons now on a 12-game losing streak.

The Giants on the other hand continue to take big leaps forward.

While premiership recruits Shane Mumford, Josh Hunt and Heath Shaw continue to add valuable experience, it was again the young players who stood up on a day where skills were very difficult to execute because of torrential rain early in the match.

He may have been guilty of a few turnovers, Adam Treloar was again outstanding for the Giants, finishing with 33 disposals, 14 tackles and a goal.

Young forwards Jonathan Patton and Jeremy Cameron finished with two goals apiece, and just days after a signing a three-year contract extension following a

sparkling debut against St Kilda last weekend, Josh Kelly repaid the faith by booting two late goals to put the game out of Melbourne's reach.

In the twilight game, North Melbourne came from behind to beat Port Adelaide at Etihad Stadium. North won 14.13.97 to 13.12.90.
