FRIDAY, 7PM: Ergon Energy is working to restore power to South Burnett homes following Friday's thunderstorms.

More than 1600 homes in Kingaroy, Nanango, Cherbourg, Tingoora and Wondai are currently without power.

It is unknown when power will return to these homes.

Ace Bleney is counting the costs of the damage following the storm, which lashed the South Burnett on Friday afternoon.

FRIDAY, 3PM: Hail has smashed down on parts of the South Burnett on Friday afternoon.

Wild weather lashed the region at about 2.30pm today.

Residents in Kingaroy, Inverlaw and Yarraman have reported small amounts of hail on their properties.

More storms are expected in the South Burnett at the weekend.

Weatherzone meteorologists have predicted 10-20mm of rain across Saturday and Sunday.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather warning at 1.10pm Friday.
