Half of our monthly average rainfall in 24 hours

IN THE past 24 hours, parts of the South Burnett have recorded up to half of their monthly rainfall for January.

Weatherzone meteorologist Rob Sharpe said Kingaroy recorded 24mm by 9am this morning, while Nanango recorded 36mm and Proston recorded 48mm.

He said the average rainfall for Kingaroy and surrounds was 96mm in January, and "much of the region has had about 20mm - 50mm in the last 24 hours".

But the Weatherzone meteorologist said the wide-spread rain event would unlikely last much longer.

"Looking ahead to the rest of the month it will be more hit and miss with showers and thunderstorms," Mr Sharpe said.

He said temperatures would warm up before the weekend and reach 30 degree temperatures into next week.

Mr Sharpe said showers and potential thunderstorms would likely return to see out the second half of next week.
