HAM IT UP: 12 must-do family events at BaconFest
YOUR little piggies will be happy to explore the many family friendly events BaconFest has is dishing up this weekend.
There are plenty of bacon and pig-themed activities for the whole family to pig out on Saturday and Sunday.
1. Little Piggies in Lard Lane
Little Piggies will be the centre of family fun at BaconFest on Saturday morning.
The event will be held in the Lard Lane, beside the Glendon St library, from 10am to 4pm.
There will be 20 stalls and two stages full of free low-cost games, craft, activities, competitions and food.
The Little Piggies event is aimed at children aged from 0-12.
There will be music and performances from students from Saint Mary's Catholic College students all day, and a colouring competition offering the chance to win a Samsung Tablet A with Telstra.
There will also be an opportunity to help with a community mural and puzzle.
2. Get your photo with BaconMan
He is the famous mascot from the festival and will be hanging out with bacon-loving fans throughout the weekend.
Be sure to find BaconMan and get your photo taken with the walking, talking pork delicacy, or join him in an impromptu dance.
3. Build the best Three Little Pigs House
Every hour between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, the skills of budding builders will be put to the test in the Three Little Pigs House competition in Lard Lane, near Glendon St.
Youngsters will get the chance to build the best house out of straw, sticks and LEGO bricks.
3. Feed the piglets
Head along to the Grass to Grill farm, just outside Kingaroy, and experience the ultimate BaconFest experience.
Families can meet and feed pigs Jack, Natalie Porkman, Skinny and Penelope at the farm.
4. Pigs might just fly
Target practice fun will run for the little piggies.
The fun will run from 10.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday in Lard Lane, beside the Glendon St library.
5. Rasher's Rush Running and Cycling Event
Dress up in your BaconFest-themed costume and join in the Rasher's Rush Running and Cycling Event.
Last year, many families took part in the Rasher's Rush and hammed it up for the chance to win the best-dressed prize.
The rush will have two options, either a 10km run or a 4km walk or run along the South Burnett Rail Trail.
Participants will gather at 9am for a 9.30am Rasher's Rush start on Saturday.
The mountain bike club will run a ride before the run.
6. 'I'm not afraid of the big bad wolf'
Join in for the interactive karate activity as the little piggies learn not be afraid of the big bad wolf.
The karate session will start at 2.30pm on Saturday.
7. Bacon-Eating Competition
Watch participants try to eath their weight in bacon.
The Bacon-Eating Competition will be held at noon on Saturday at the main stage.
Cheer on a family member in the competition, or older children might like to enter themselves.
8. Little piggies go to the markets
Be sure to stop by the BaconFest Food Market during your time at BaconFest.
Sample some of the bacon-inspired foods, both sweet and savoury.
There is sure to find a perfect feed for even the fussiest little piggies, with classic and gourmet options on offer.
The food markets will run from 10am to 8pm on Saturday at the Glendon St precinct.
The markets will reopen at 10am on Sunday and run until 3pm.
Also on offer will be the South Burnett Flavours Farmers Markets which will be launched for the first time on Sunday in Lard Lane from 10am.
Watch as the little piggies go round and round and round in Lard Lane.
There will be free merry-go-round rides in Lard Lane all day on Sunday.
10. Junior Bacon Olympics
Show off your strength, skills and bacon at the Junior Bacon Olympics.
Competitors will compete in Lard Lane at 1pm on Sunday.
The Masters and Open Bacon Olympics competition will be held at 11am on Sunday.
11. Piglet pen
Show off your creative skills in the piglet pen on Sunday at BaconFest central in Glendon St.
The crafts and games for under-12s will run all day.
12. Bacon star
Join in the Be a Star! interactive dance with the Western star Cali performance.
The interactive dance will be held at noon on Sunday in Glendon St.
