Pub cheers on Dolly’s Dream

TOWNSVILLE'S Australian Hotel is "Doing it for Dolly" and raising funds for a cause touching hearts all over the country.

The pub is donating $1 from the sale of every pint of Mountain Goat Steam Ale sold to the Dolly Dream Foundation, a charity group established by family and friends of Amy "Dolly" Everett who took her own life on January 3 after being a victim of bullying.

In memory of Northern Territory 14-year-old Dolly and to promote positive change for other young people experiencing difficulties, the Dolly's Dream Foundation aims to provide support to charity groups through fundraising and other promotions.

Australian Hotel owner Katie Kelliher said they initiated the campaign to contribute to the important cause.

"You think about your own nieces and nephews at school, and no one should have to go through it," she said. "It's really sad."

Ms Kelliher said it was important for everybody to contribute and do something.

"I think back to when I went to school and even if you're bullied, back then it stopped at 3pm when you get home," she said.

"Now it's all the social media and smart devices people have and it doesn't stop."

Now serving cold pints of Mountain Goat Steam Ale throughout the entire pub, Ms Kelliher encouraged everyone to drop into the hotel and back the campaign.

"We chose that specific ale as the logo is bright blue, which was Dolly's favourite colour," she said.

"We should all do our bit and raise awareness."
